The Patriots linebacking corps is starting to come into focus with rookie ILB Brandon Spikes and rookie OLB Jermaine Cunningham consistently starting. OLB Rob Ninkovich, who had two interceptions and a sack in Week Four, told Pro Football Weekly about the rookies: "Spikes is a great run stopper. He is strong, big and physical and likes to hit. Cunningham is a big guy, too, with great skills on the edge. He can get after the QB and stop the run. Those guys will get better and better the more experience they get on the field."
