The Carolina Panthers offer up this season's first big IDP hit in the form of linebacker Thomas Davis. Davis who we had ranked at #24 going into the season is now likely lost for all of 2010 with his second torn ACL in as many years.
Yesterday tests confirmed the original diagnosis of another torn knee ligament, this after he was lost last November when he blew his right anterior cruciate ligament while backpedaling and planting on the Louisiana Superdome turf. That one was a non-contact injury. According to HeraldOnline this week's injury was "eerily similar."
While backpedaling during individual drills next to teammate Jon Beason (ranked #2 IDP LB), Davis went down without being touched by another player, and immediately gripped his right knee.
Fortunately for fantasy teams, the linebacker position is the easiest IDP slot to fill, but this news is bad for the morale and defense of the Carolina Panthers.
