ESPN.com's John Clayton believes it would take "an incredible preseason" for Matthew Stafford to beat out Daunte Culpepper for the starting job.
This goes against beat writer Tom Kowalski's early-July prediction that Stafford would win the tightly contested race. The Lions aren't likely to name a starter until well into preseason action.

The Spin
Daunte Culpepper used to be a probowl QB. Then again he was only successful when he had a beast at WR and Scott Linehan was calling the plays.. hmm let's see.. Culpepper has Calvin "Megatron" Johnson and Scott Linehan. It is very possible we could see a repeat of Culpepper's 39 TD 4,717 yard performance like he did in 2004.
