Individual defensive player (IDP) fantasy superstar Brian Urlacher had season-ending surgery today. Jay Cutler stunk up the house running for his life against a shocking Green Bay defense. Green Bay's defense is only 68% owned in Yahoo leagues and looked like a top five defense in week one. Bear's wide receiver Earl Bennett looks to become a top fantasy threat if Chicago can give Cutler some time to make plays. Green Bay tight end, Jermichael Finley fell flat on his face with one lonely catch.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and looking back at my draft I should have grabbed Drew Brees when I had the chance. Shockey, Henderson, Moore, Colston and company looked like the best group of receivers in football last night. So while everyone is drooling over an air show that would make the Air Force proud, they missed the boat of gold sitting in the port, Mike Bell. Bell is only 22% owned in Yahoo leagues and has shown he can run the rock like a featured stud. Don't wait to see him do this again in week 2, grab him now before someone else does, especially in deep leagues.
Mark Sanchez, as expected, had a nice debut. Fantasy owners should follow his lead and fall in love with the Jets’ tight end, Dustin Keller. And if you're looking for a plug-in-play defense, the Jets make a solid add to any roster.
Carolina coach John Fox says he will give Jake Delhomme another shot, despite 11 turnovers in the last two games. But honestly the entire Carolina offense stunk! I recommend benching everyone not name Williams.
Tonight's game for me is really LT versus the Raiders. I think this game will tell me if I need to sell LT or hang on to him. Against the Raiders, LaDainian Tomlinson has amassed 1,906 yards rushing, caught 52 passes for an additional 262 yards, scored 22 touchdowns and thrown three touchdowns. What does all this mean? It means LT should own the Raiders again tonight and if he doesn't... well it's time to make some trade offers to improve your roster while everyone still thinks LT is a top 5 RB. It will be interesting to see how the addition of DE Richard Seymour will impact Oakland's rush defense.
