Team Defense Start Sit Week 6, Return Of The Steel Curtain

October 12, 2010 by Kurt Turner

Team Defense Start Sit week 6

Week 5 Recap: Good Picks were Saints, Jets, Jacksonville and Kansas City. I really missed on the Texans pick, Giants defense looked unstoppable, not enough chances for Cushing and crew and Atlanta and Washington came through big time with quarterback troubles for their opponents all game long.

To begin, we have to start with the best defense in football off of a bye playing the Browns; The Steelers have to have a good week this week, especially after losing to Cleveland last year and Big Ben is back, this just makes too much sense for their defense. Here is the list of the rest of team defense start sit week 6.

Start ‘em: Week Six Team Defenses

San Francisco 49ers vs OAK: San Francisco is currently ranked 26th in total fantasy points so far this season [that is amazing], but I really like them this week [I am not sure how many more times I can keep saying that]. The biggest problem this year for SF has been points allowed [116], I do not think that will be a problem this week against the Raiders.

Washington Redskins vs IND: As I am writing this I am questioning this pick, but with Joseph Addai and Donald Brown both hurt, I think the Redskins have a huge chance to contain Peyton and the offense in this one. Getting Albert Haynesworth back this week will help for the 13th ranked team defense in fantasy football and I think Mike Shanahan will dial up a good scheme to contain Manning.

New York Giants vs DET: How can you not like this matchup; the Giants defense has looked unbelievable the past two weeks and now they face a Lions team that could be without Calvin Johnson and maybe Matthew Stafford again this week. The Giants have a total of 19 sacks this year and believe me, they will get to Shaun Hill this week and the Giants team defense will be a good start because the Lions will turnover the ball.

New Orleans Saints @ TB: In Josh Freeman’s career versus the Saints he has thrown 1 TD and 5 INT, the Saints will feast on the Bucs in this game, especially after a serious let down loss against the Cardinals last week. The Saints cause a ton of turnovers with their cutthroat defense, and they will do the same against Freeman and the Buccaneers this week.

Sit ‘em: Week Six Team Defenses

Dallas Cowboys @ MINN: The Cowboys are reeling and the Vikings are gelling; it is simple, I do not like my chances with the Cowboys chances of stopping the Vikings offense this week. Speaking of SF being 26th in team defense fantasy points, Dallas is ranked 27th [understanding they had a bye] and I do not like them to stop Adrian Peterson at all this week.

Kansas City Cheifs @ HOU: With Andre Johnson expected to play in this matchup I do not like the Chiefs defense this week. Houston has not looked on the same page all season, either is Arian Foster running for over 200 yards or Matt Schaub is throwing for 400 yards, but it never happens all together; this week I think it does. I like Houston to show some of Kansas City’s defensive weaknesses and cool down the 14th ranked fantasy football team defense.

Baltimore Ravens @ NE: I am scared of Tom Brady without Randy Moss; it seemed like with him it was too easy, now without him and with newly acquired Patriot Deion Branch, I think the Patriots will get their passing game together and put a good offensive day on versus one of the best defenses in football. The Patriots have an extra week to prepare and their offense should have a good scheme on come Sunday.

Green Bay Packers vs MIA: The Packers are ranked 6th in team defense fantasy points, this cannot last. Too many injuries on the defensive side of the ball mixed with Aaron Rodgers coming off of a concussion, I like the Dolphins to control the ball, eat the clock and put points on the board. The Dolphins had a bye this week, they are rested and ready to go, sit the Packers defense this week with recent injuries to Clay Matthews, Nick Barnett and Ryan Pickett on Green Bay’s defense.
