2015 Tight End Draft Rankings

40 yard dash: 4.38, 225 lb bench press – 33 reps, 42 inch vertical jump - This man is a beast! But he is dropping down the rankings every fantasy season since he hit the scene.

Here's our staff rankings at the Tight End position for the 2015 fantasy football draft. You can use our tight end (TE) draft rankings to spot trending players in the middle to late rounds of the draft. Rankings like these (staff opinion) can be used to find rising stars or simply guys you didn't know about. See a tight end on the list below that's a lot higher than you figured possible? There's probably a reason the analyst is projecting them higher than most, do some research and post your comments below. We will update all of our draft rankings as needed until the start of the 2015 NFL season.

Stats, projections, bye weeks, strength of schedule, auction value and more can be found inside our premium draft cheat sheets. Membership includes access to our DFS optimizer too!

Dwayne Allen, IND, TE1929121729
Kyle Rudolph, MIN, TE2022171321
I rank Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Josh Hill just outside of the top 12 because I believe both have huge potential but are only worthy of a roster spot after you draft your starting tight end. Vernon Davis is a "safe" bust pick. I have him ranked fairly low due to his inconsistency year after year and let's not forget just how invisible he was last year. Davis is surrounded by hype for all the right reasons, we all know he can get it done but what has he done for us lately?
I do believe Travis Kelce has a lot of upside but for me Greg Olsen is the safer bet. I like the odds of Jason Witten improving this season as the Cowboys should see a big jump in passing attempts. The Virgil Green hype isn't real, Owen Daniels will be the one catching passes from Peyton Manning. Daniels is still talented and Manning has proved he can achieve big numbers for his TE. Tyler Eifert looked hot out the gate last season until his freak injury in week one. I like the idea of him finding success this year now that he's healthy. Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a monster TE at 6-6 who is impressing at camp. I think he could have a big season coming, plus the risk is low since you can get him late in drafts.
Gronkowski is in a tier all by himself, but with Jimmy Graham going to Seattle he might close the gap some.  Definitely those two are way above the rest. Even though Gates is facing suspension and is getting old he is  still putting up good fantasy numbers and I put him at number 5.  When he comes back from suspension he might only be used in passing game and not have to worry about blocking, which might help his fantasy numbers.  But, you will have to draft another tight end for the first four weeks of the season. I moved Julius Thomas all the way to 3rd and that might have been too far, but he did so well in Denver he could be a great target for the young Blake Bortles. Jacob Tamme moving to Atlanta is interesting as well.  I thought he would have a good year last year in Denver, but Thomas took all the action there.  He could have a breakout year. Owen Daniels could be a good sleeper pick now that he has landed in Denver after reviving his career in Baltimore. I look for him to have a lot of touchdown catches, which are big.
  • I think Gronkowski has to be number one even without Brady for four games.
  • Graham's move to Seattle hurts him a bit, but I think that Russell Wilson will quickly see that he has an amazing red zone target and the numbers will come.
  • Martellus Bennett and Greg Olsen are integral parts of their offenses and both have quarterbacks who trust them. The Panthers and Bears are both banged up, but I think the Bears will throw more. Slight edge to Bennett.
  • I think that Jordan Cameron gets back to his old form with an up and coming quarterback in Miami.
  • Watch Julius Thomas in Jacksonville, he doesn't have Manning but the Jags will have to score occassionally and I think Thomas is the man to get the job done. Thomas is out 4-5 weeks, he gets bumped down two spots but is still mildly draftworthy. Remember that Thomas does have a bit of an injury history.
  • I am very high on Dwayne Allen again this season. He dropped about 10 lbs after saying that he felt like he was slowing down late in the season. Luck is going to make Allen look good again in 2015.
  • I'm giving Vernon Davis one more chance as a lower tier tight end. We'll see if Kurt Warner was able to help Colin Kaepernick become a serviceable NFL quarterback.
  • I still love Jace Amaro's skills, but his quarterbacks are just bad.
