What It Means
The Cliff Notes of this deal: Chicago just unloaded a lot of salary to make a run at big time free agents this summer. But let's look at the fantasy impact.
The biggest winner of these two trades is Salmons. He'll go to Milwaukee and become the starting shooting guard next to Brandon Jennings. He struggled to fit the system in Chicago, but could find new (any) energy with the rookie for the Bucks. He is a potential waiver pick-up now.
For Charlotte, Thomas joins Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson in an up-tempo offense and could improve his scoring into double figures. The reason the Bulls are moving him, though, is because he never figured out how to consistently produce. He'll likely be the reserve small forward for the Bobcats, bumping Stephen Graham down the bench. Thomas' fantasy value continues to be a matchup-based question mark.
In Chicago, Warrick might have just gained fantasy relevance. With Joakim Noah injured and rookie Taj Gibson playing heavy minutes, and with key reserves Salmons and Thomas leaving, Warrick is now likely to see heavy minutes in the Bulls rotation. He's certainly going to make the highlight reels with Derrick Rose, and his size will compliment the Bulls up-and-down game better than Brad Miller.
