Week 10 Running Back Rankings: Arian Foster Not Letting Up

November 8, 2011 by Greg Brosh

Until his wheels fall completely off, I foresee Arian Foster being the No. 1 ranked running back for the rest of the season.

I had a conversation with someone, who shall remain nameless, yesterday who had the nerve to call Arian Foster overrated. OVERRATED!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY!?!? If he had started the season with a couple bad games after what he did in 2010, fine. But considering he has taken up right where he left off, all the while not letting out a peep about his contract status, Foster is as far from overrated as you can get. I didn't even bother trying to argue this point. Let those who think he is continue those thoughts so I can snatch him up in the first round in 2012.

And on that note, below are my running back rankings going into Week 10. I want to remind everyone that this week starts Thursday night games, the first being the Raiders against the Chargers. So don't be the fool who forgets to get Michael Bush or Vincent Jackson in by Thursday afternoon

TOP FIVE WEEK-TEN MATCHUPS (MUST START)

1. Arian Foster (HOU) @ TB: Foster's matchup is excellent since the Bucs allow around 23 points to fantasy backs. But even if Foster was facing the toughest run defense of them all, I would still keep him at No. 1. Over the last 3 games, Foster has been a rushing beast with 115, 112 and 124 yards respectively. He has also notched 5 total touchdowns in that span. Expect a beast of a game again this weekend.

2. Adrian Peterson (MIN) @ GB: Get ready for AD vs the Packers part 2. In the first meeting, Peterson went for 175 and a score, which was largely due to the fact that Christian Ponder sparked some life back into the passing game. It'd be hard seeing AD rack up that much yardage playing at Green Bay, but I think he will still make owners happy..

3. LeSean McCoy (PHI) vs. ARI: In the loss to the Bears, Andy Reid did what I was afraid he was going to do: Limit McCoy's carries. After flirting with 30 in Weeks 8 and 9, McCoy only saw 16 Monday night. And given the fact that he was averaging 4.4 yards a rush, there was no reason McCoy shouldn't have gotten more, especially with the game so close. Regardless, he still had a strong fantasy outing and will again against the Cardinals.

4. Matt Forte (CHI) vs. Det: Forte had a big game against the Eagles, but fumbled his first and second ball of the year at the same time. He was benched for a bit, but this won't have an affect on his fantasy value. He destroyed the Lions in Week 5 with 151 total yards. He'll come close to matching that again.

5. Maurice Jones-Drew (JAX) @ IND: The Colts Defense has given up an astonishing 1,204 rushing yards on the year. Coming off a bye, I can see MJD racking up over 100 rushing yards and at least one score. The passing game is going to be ugly for both teams, so expect the Jags to rely heavily on their running game big time this week.

I don't buy the "Committee" talk once Felix Jones comes back. DeMarco Murray deserves the lead-back role.
Rank Player Information
6. Ray Rice (BAL) @ Seattle Seahawks
7. Steven Jackson (STL) @ Cleveland Browns
8. DeMarco Murray (DAL) vs. Buffalo Bills: He should keep the job once Jones comes back.
9. Fred Jackson (BUF) @ Dallas Cowboys
10. Michael Turner (ATL) @ New Orleans Saints
11. Frank Gore (SF) vs. New York Giants
12. Michael Bush (OAK)
@ San Diego Chargers
13. Chris Johnson (TEN) @ Carolina Panthers: Might be too high, but Carolina is that bad against the run.
14. Shonne Greene (NYJ) vs. New England Patriots: Will update his status at the top of the page (concussion).
15. Willis McGahee (DEN) @ Kansas City Chiefs
16. Ryan Mathews (SD) vs. Oakland Raiders: Should play.
17. Darren Sproles (ATL) @ Atlanta Falcons
18. Rashard Mendenhall (PIT) @ Cincinnati Bengals
19. Jackie Battle (KC) vs. Denver Broncos
20. Brandon Jacobs (NYG) @ San Francisco 49ers
21. Beanie Wells (ARI) @ Philadelphia Eagles: Less than 100 percent with a knee injury. He should be higher, but I am worried with how effective he will be.
22. Reggie Bush (MIA) @ Washington Redskins
23. LeGarrette Blount (TB) vs. Houston Texans
24. Roy Helu (WAS) @ Miami Dolphins: Don't be surprised to see Helu keep the starting job.
25. Mike Tolbert (SD) vs. Oakland Raiders: Could see a decent-sized role with Mathews not 100 percent.
26. Cedric Benson (CIN) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
27. James Starks (GB) vs. Minnesota Vikings
28. Marshawn Lynch (SEA) vs. Baltimore Ravens
29. Chris Ogbonnaya (CLE) vs. St. Louis Rams: Will start, but really looked bad last week.
30. Donald Brown (IND) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

BEST OF THE REST:

31. Jonathan Stewart (CAR) vs. Tennessee Titans
32. Marion Barber (CHI) vs. Minnesota Vikings
33. Chris Ivory (NO) @ Atlanta Falcons
34. Ryan Grant (GB) vs. Minnesota Vikings
35. LaDainian Tomlinson (NYJ) vs New England Patriots: Have LT handy if Greene sits with a concussion.

I wish everyone the best of luck this week. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post below.
