Among Stevan Ridley’s candid comments to ESPN after his fumble was the statement “I can’t keep doing this”. That is now also true for his owners, who cannot risk the chance that that he will suddenly be chained to the sideline by Bill Belichick as punishment for his latest transgression. After fumbling in three straight contests, can you feel confident that Ridley won’t lose touches to Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden, or even LeGarrette Blount? The answer should leave you feeling uneasy about using him. Meanwhile, Bobby Rainey 167-yard, three TD explosion in Week 11 was hardly replicated last week, as Detroit’s fourth ranked run stoppers limited him to just 35 yards on 18 carries. This week, he must contend with a Carolina rush defense that is even more formidable, and another modest yardage total is imminent.
I noticed some owners benched Adrian Peterson last week. My motto is "If AP is active, play him no matter what." As you can see, Week 13 should be a good week for Peterson again. Another noticable ranking is Shane Vereen as a borderline RB1. In a PPR format, and with Stevan Ridley close to fumbling his job away for good, Vereen should be a huge asset against the Texans. Rams Benny Cunningham should get the start this week, but I don't advise him as anything more than a low-end flex.
You would think I'd have Miller ranked higher, since "the other" running back, what's his name? Is out for at least 4 to 5 weeks. But Miller has done nothing for us this season and his matchup is killer, temper your expectations this week.
