This column is about the waiver wire and LeVeon Bell cannot be found there, but how about the game that he had on Sunday. There are plenty of teams in the playoffs moving on just because of him. Hopefully that was the case for some of you if you picked up Bilal Powell last week. If not, he is still available in most leagues along with these other guys.
Week 14 Recommendations Results (Standard League Scoring)
· Kenneth Dixon BAL – Plays Tonight
· Bilal Powell NYJ – 29 rushes 145 yards 2 touchdowns 5 catches 34 yards 29 Fantasy Points
· Jacquizz Rodgers TB – 2 carries 0 yards 0 Fantasy Points
· Mike Gillislee BUF – 2 carries 34 yards 3 Fantasy Points
There was a change in the Jets backfield as Matt Forte got hurt and Bilal Powell took full advantage. Powell destroyed the awful San Francisco defense and he may be the starter for week 15 as well. It looks like Doug Martin is it for the Bucs; Rodgers certainly is not in the picture at the moment. The same could be said of Gillislee for the Bills, although he had an amazing YPC on his two carries.
Week 15 Waiver Wire Picks
Red Alert
Bilal Powell NYJ 37.1% owned
Everyone should be running to the waiver wire for Powell. Matt Forte has a knee injury that looks like it will force him to miss time. It is almost impossible to find a quality starting running back on the wire at this time of year, but Powell could be just that. The Jets face the Dolphins minus Ryan Tannehill in week 15 and Powell could find himself doing a lot of clock-killing in that game. Whatever reserves of FAAB fantasy owners still have should be spent on Powell if they need a running back.
The Rest Of The Waiver Wire Picks
Dwayne Washington DET 5.8% owned
There is a decent chance that Theo Riddick will not play in week 15 and it looks like Washington is leading the backfield by a wide margin. The touchdowns are not there, but with no Riddick Washington would likely have good volume. The Giants are a tough matchup for rushers, but all it takes is one run from in close to have a nice fantasy day. With Stafford dinged up, the Lions may look to run the ball more and Washington would be the main beneficiary.
He Keeps Getting Touches
Rex Burkhead CIN 12% owned
The big winner in the Cincy backfield was Hill in week 14, but this is still a committee. There are plenty of touches for Burkhead and he has had mediocre results so far. The Bengals get the Steelers next which could mean that there will be more passes thrown. If the script goes away from pounding out run plays, Burkhead becomes much more appealing than Hill. For deep and PPR leagues, Burkhead could be surprisingly productive in week 15.
Paul Perkins NYG 18.9% owned
There has not been a breakout game yet, but Perkins has the skills to have a big fantasy showing at any time. He got a fair volume of carries on Sunday but only managed 45 rushing yards. Going forward there is a good chance that he could out-touch Jennings, but the results are still in question. For the moment he would be a desperation flex play in hope of a breakaway run or short pass.
