Week 16 Tight End Rankings 2014

December 17, 2014 by Brendan Cole

Alright ladies and gentlemen, this is championship week in most leagues so congratulations to those of you still in it to win it. Whether or not you are going for top honors, I have your rankings ready to go so let's get right into it.

Injury Concerns:  Austin Seferian-Jenkins TB (back) and Ladarius Green SD (concussion) Delanie Walker TEN (knee)

Also: Week 16 RB Rankings

The Elite Tier (Must Starts):

1. Rob Gronkowski NE   @NYJ

Gronk is matchup proof right now and as an added bonus, he has a nice matchup. Enjoy.

Gronk is the only remaining elite tight end in existence in my book. Prove me wrong Jimmy.

Starter Worthy (Should Be Safe To Roll With These Guys):

2. Jimmy Graham NO   vs. ATL

Graham's numbers improved last week, but I know his owners are looking for some TDs. I think he gets one this week.

3. Dwayne Allen IND   @DAL

Allen is due for a big game after looking pretty healthy last week. This one should be a high scoring contest so good things are possible.

4. Greg Olsen CAR   vs. CLE

The Cleveland defense is legit, but Carolina relies heavily on Olsen and I don't think the Browns will be able to shut him down.

5. Julius Thomas DEN   @CIN

Thomas has been disappointing since mid November due to injury. Like Allen, I think that Thomas could have a get-well game in week 16.

6. Antonio Gates SD   @SF

Gates gets his targets every game, but the fact is that he lacks the explosion he used to have. He also always has red zone potential, however.

Will Antonio Gates see the endzone in week 16?

Dangerous With Potential (Do You Feel Lucky?)

7. Travis Kelce KC   @PIT

Kelce faces a weak Steelers secondary and if the Chiefs decide to throw the ball at all, it could mean points for the tight end.

8. Martellus Bennett CHI   vs. DET

This is a tough one because the Bears really need to rely on Bennett, but I feel like Jay Cutler just wants to get off the field.

9. Delanie Walker TEN   @JAC

Walker has a nice matchup against the always weak Jags if he makes it on the field this week. Watch his status.

10. Coby Fleener IND   @DAL

The "other" Colts tight end should get his this week as well. The Cowboys defense is improved, but Andrew Luck is spectacular.

Waiver Wire Fodder:

I have a lot more guys than usual in this category, but I don't feel like anyone else is worth a start. If you have no other choice of course I still have them listed in order of my prediction for performance.

11. Jason Witten DAL   vs. IND

Witten has fallen off in a big way as a receiver, but he still picks up a TON of first downs if you play in a fluky fantasy league that counts that.

12. Heath Miller PIT   vs. KC

Miller is barely an option in the Steelers passing game at this point.

13. Kyle Rudolph MIN   @MIA

I actually feel like the Vikings offense is on the upswing, but the Dolphins are a tough matchup.

14. Owen Daniels BAL   @HOU

Maybe a little revenge factor here, but stay away if you can

15. Brent Celek PHI   @WAS

16. Scott Chandler BUF   @OAK

17. Marcedes Lewis JAC   vs. TEN

18. Mychal Rivera OAK   vs. BUF

19. Josh Hill NO   vs. ATL

20. Anthony Fasano KC   @PIT

21. Andrew Quarless GB   @TB

22. Jordan Cameron CLE   @CAR

23. Gavin Escobar DAL   vs. IND

24. Eric Ebron DET   @CHI

25. Jordan Reed WAS   vs. PHI

26. Jared Cook STL   vs. NYG

27. Luke Willson SEA   @ARI

28. Charles Clay MIA   vs. MIN

29. Jace Amaro NYJ   vs. NE

Good luck to everyone, especially teams with a chance to win top honors. If your league goes until week 17, of course the rankings will be back to help out with your championship weekend.
