Week 17 Waiver Wire Running Backs Pickups

December 23, 2013 by Greg Brosh

This week's Week 17 Waiver Wire Running Backs Pickups article still has a few players who are worth gambling on. Between injuries and awful play, the top 2 players on this list should be the must-owned guys over all others.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Quarterbacks Pickups
Week 17 Waiver Wire Wide Receivers Pickups
Week 17 Waiver Wire Tight Ends Pickups

Joique Bell - Lions

Those depending on Reggie Bush, myself included, got screwed big time because the idiot couldn't keep the ball in his hands. Bush lost his fourth fumble of the season and wound up getting benched for Bell in the second half against the Giants. Those who took a chance on Bell got rewarded big time with 154 total yards and a game-high 10 receptions. The loss to the Giants knocked the Lions out of the playoffs. So with nothing to play for, we could see more Bell next week in a strong matchup against the Vikings. This could wind up being a committee, with Bell leading the way.

James Starks - Packers

Yep this big heap of disappointment is back on the waiver wire....again. Eddie Lacy was knocked out against the Steelers after aggravating his right ankle sprain. This was the same injury Lacy got hit with back in early December. In relief, Starks rushed for 47 yards off 10 carries. Those who own Lacy MUST pick up Starks as the Packers have the supreme matchup against the Bears this upcoming week. If Starks winds up starting, he might possibly put up career highs across the board. Yes the Bears rushing defense is that bad.

LeGarrette Blount - Patriots

Starting ahead of Stevan Ridley, Blount had his best game of the season after rushing 16 times for 76 yards and 2 scores against the Ravens. The problem with Blount is he has been rotating almost evenly with Ridley, who ran 15 times for 54 yards. Blount's fantasy value comes from touchdowns. So unless you are THAT desperate for running back help, Blount might be a bit too much of a liability in your starting lineup .
