Week 5 Running Back Rankings 2014

October 1, 2014 by Greg Brosh

The Week 5 Running Back Rankings won't be taking as much of a hit as Week 4 with only the Dolphins and Raiders on a bye. Although I am sure Lamar Miller owners, like myself, wouldn't mind having him in their lineups again after his 2 touchdown performance against the Raiders.

At the very least, this week will be easier to set most lineups since owners won't need to scramble around like chickens looking for bottom-basement options just to roster a complete starting lineup.

THE FABULOUS ONES (GUYS YOU MUST START)

1. DeMarco Murray (DAL) vs. HOU - One has to wonder when Murray hits the injury history.
2. Marshawn Lynch (SEA) at WAS
3. Le'Veon Bell (PIT) at JAC - I wouldn't be surprised to see Bell come up huge, with Blount playing gabage time.
4. Rashad Jennings (NYG) vs. ATL - Considering Atlanta can't stop anyone, Jennings could be the No. 1 running back statwise.
5. Matt Forte (CHI) at CAR
6. LeSean McCoy (PHI) vs. STL - The matchup is there, but the offensive line can't stop defensive linemen from getting penetration.
7. Jamaal Charles (KC) at SF
8. Giovani Bernard (CIN) at NE
9. Eddie Lacy (GB) vs. MIN - Will Lacy ever get going? Still an RB1 due to volume, but needs to get something going or owners will be putting him on the trade block.
10. Arian Foster (HOU) at DAL - Very questionable. Keep Alfred Blue handy.
11. Andre Ellington (ARI) at DEN
12. Zac Stacy (STL) at PHI

THE QUESTIONABLE ONES (STARTERS THAT HAVE QUESTION MARKS)

13. Frank Gore (SF) vs. KC
14. Matt Asiata (MIN) at GB - As long as Asiata scores touchdowns, he'll continue to be an RB2.
15. Montee Ball (DEN) vs. ARI
16. Alfred Morris (WAS) vs. SEA
17. Doug Martin (TB) at NO
18. Reggie Bush (DET) vs. BUF - Gets a bump up if Joique Bell misses this week's game due to a concussion.
19. Ahmad Bradshaw (IND) vs. BAL - Despite sitting out with a lower-body injury, he's expected to play this week. Still the better of the two between he and Trent Richardson.
20. Justin Forsett (BAL) at IND - Forsett continues to be the complete back in the backfield.
21. Khiry Robinson (NO) vs. TB
22. Christopher Ivory (NYJ) at SD
23. C.J. Spiller (BUF) at DET
24. Ben Tate (CLE) at TEN

THE BARGAIN BIN (WHERE SOME ITEMS ARE GREAT,
BUT THERE ARE ITEMS WE HATE)

25. Fred Jackson (BUF) at DET
26. Shane Vereen (NE) vs. CIN
27. Bishop Sankey (TEN) vs. CLE
28. Donald Brown (SD) vs. NYJ
29. Stevan Ridley (NE) vs. CIN
30. Joique Bell (DET) vs. BUF
31. Trent Richardson (IND) vs. BAL
32. Darren Sproles (PHI) vs. STL
33. Pierre Thomas (NO) vs. TB
34. Steven Jackson (ATL) at NYG
35. Jerick McKinnon (MIN) at GB
36. Jeremy Hill (CIN) at NE
37. Lorenzo Taliaferro (BAL) at IND
38. Darrin Reaves (CAR) vs. CHI
39. Toby Gerhart (JAC) vs. PIT
40. Isaiah Crowell (CLE) at TEN
