The Contra Costa Times has reported that despite history, and coach Tom Cable's original plan which he announced yesterday, he will now start running back Michael Bush in place of the injured Darren McFadden.
The Raiders have traditionally gone with Justin Fargas as their number one, and up until a preseason injury limited him, he was still at the top of the depth chart leading up to opening day. Whenever, McFadden has been hurt, the Raiders have turned to Fargas, and he has generally delivered. Coach Cable's plan leading up to week five was to do a time share between Fargas and Bush against the New York Giants.
My guess is Fargas will still get a fair share of the load, but this is a great break for Michael Bush who is perhaps the best running back on the team. After waivers have run for most leagues, Bush is still readily available in 69% of ESPN and 79% of Yahoo leagues. Go grab some Bush, while it's free and easy!
