One thing that the NFL provides each week is frustration at the running back position. Very few feature backs remain, which leaves owners scrambling for warm bodies to put into their lineups.
Some new faces emerged in week 6 so check out the waiver wire and keep the backfield rotation going.
Week 6 Recommendations Results (Standard League Scoring)
· Bilal Powell NYJ – Plays Tonight
· James White NE – 7 carries 19 yards 8 receptions 47 yards 2 touchdowns 17 Fantasy Points
· Devontae Booker DEN – 5 carries 46 yards 2 receptions 7 yards 4 Fantasy Points
· Justin Forsett (stash) – 5 carries 5 yards 0 Fantasy Points
Powell has not played as of this article being written, but his role in the Jets offense is secure. The Patriots put up serious points on the Bengals, but White will not produce this many fantasy points very often. In the Denver backfield, Booker continues to have a slice of touches carved out for himself. The Lions are not a great running team and Forsett goes along with the whole “not great” theme.
Week 7 Waiver Wire Picks
Jay Ajayi MIA 42.5% owned
On Sunday Ajayi produced one of the most impressive and surprising performances of the season. He rolled up the Steelers defense for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns. That production was actually less than he should have had as Damien Williams snuck in for a 1 yard touchdown run. Despite the return of Arian Foster, Ajayi looks like the runaway winner as far as the Dolphins back to own. Run out and grab him now and cross your fingers for something close to a repeat performance.
Matt Asiata MIN 19.9% owned
The Vikings were on a bye last week, so some of their players can be found on waivers in more leagues than normal. The always boring Matt Asiata is almost universally available despite being a weekly threat to score multiple touchdowns. Jerick McKinnon gets all the hype in the Vikings backfield and rightfully so. On the other hand, Asiata has arguably been a more reliable asset to fantasy owners when AP misses time. Grab this plodder while you can; vulture touchdowns are still 6 points.
The Rest Of The Waiver Wire Picks
C.J. Spiller SEA 9.8% owned
The Seahawks are working Spiller into the offense gradually, but he has seen a couple of catches in each of his first two games. Spiller still possesses game breaking abilities when he gets the ball in his hands. He may never be the back that everyone believed was a first round pick in Buffalo, but if Spiller can up his touches by a few he will have value in Seattle.
Double Down
James White NE 49.3% owned
Coming in at just under 50 percent ownership, James White is a solid receiving threat now that Tom Brady is back in the fold. The odds of him repeating his performance from week 6 are not good, but 10 fantasy points would be a solid weekly goal. PPR owners should be salivating over White, but even in standard leagues he has a shot at touchdowns and therefor value. Grab White if he is still on the wire in your league.
