Week 8 RB Rankings – Doug Martin Impact

October 23, 2013 by Kurt Turner

If you're like me, low on waiver wire funds and really need a RB, the Doug Martin injury has you scrambling. If he's out for the season his backup, Mike James, could prove to be a decent flex for the rest of the season. Here's what I recommend; pick up Mike James if you have room, no doubt worth the add. But if you have a waiver wire budget, hold back just a touch. I put $350 of my $1,000 budget on obtaining Mike James.. let me say this though, the waiver wire is BARE in this league. So I know I have to come strong to obtain Doug Martin's replacement. See the rankings below.. more of the staff will rank guys as the days trickle by.. let's see where with list Mike James.

C.J. Spiller is very unlikely to play this week and owners should make adjustments accordingly per Joe Buscaglia on Twitter. Steven Jackson has also been bumped down BELOW Jacquizz Rodgers. Jackson was limited in practice once again, and his is expected to get a limited role against the Cardinals anyhow. DeMarco Murray also put in a second straight day of practice as of Thursday, which will significantly hurt Joseph Randle's fantasy stock if he (Murray) gets the nod as expected.
Keeping with the PPR format for the Week 8 rankings, Jamaal Charles is the clear-cut No. 1 after Adrian Peterson disappointed many owners this week. The one guy I will be keeping an eye on is Mike James. No he isn't as talented as Doug Martin, but he has the size and receiving skills to be a competent replacement. Good enough to be an RB2? It's a stretch, but not out of the possibility.
