Fantasy News And Player Updates: Antonio Gates; Joshua Cribbs: Will They Play?

November 27, 2010 by Kurt Turner

It seems that every single week the running theme for fantasy owners is wondering whether or not their star players are healthy enough to not only play, but also be an effective part of their starting roster—wondering whether or not players such as Antonio Gates or Joshua Cribbs will play has simply become a weekly headache to say the least.

Just because a player winds up starting doesn’t always mean he actually deserves the start.

This week, there is a bevy of players to discuss. Should you start Antonio Gates? How about Joshua Cribbs??

Well sit back and take a quick peek at our round up, as we have ya covered from head to toe, and when you’re finished, be sure to stop on by to my WR Week 12 Start Sit column, to ask those final questions to help fine tune your roster for Week 12.

The Doubtfuls:

TE Anotonio Gates – Chargers: Gates is listed as doubtful with that ankle and foot. He’s not likely to play this Sunday, and if he does, not likely to produce much.

QB – Colt McCoy – Browns: McCoy isn’t likely to miss 4 to 5 weeks as originally projected, but he is not likely to start this week against the Carolina Panthers either. Jake Delhomme will get the nod, but he isn’t worth starting unless you're in a pinch.

CB – Eric Wright – Browns: One of the more up and down covermen in Cleveland (Eric Wright) is not expected to play this week due to an apparent knee injury. Rookie Joe Haden will take his place.  Wright has actually declined this year, and Haden could be a nice sleeper grab in IDP leagues.

CB – Brandon Flowers – Chiefs: Flowers still hasn’t practiced all week and is listed as doubtful to play this Sunday against Seattle. This is great news if Seahawks WR Mike Williams was playing, but he’s not. If you took a chance on Deon Butler, though, you may wind up being pleasantly surprised.

WR – Brandon Marshall – Dolphins: Brandon Marshall’s hamstring issue is likely to keep him out of his Week 12 match up against the Oakland Raiders, reports Omar Kelly on Twitter. This is great news for owners of fellow receiver Brian Hartline, who has been getting more and more action, even with Marshall in the mix.

The Questionables:

WR – Mike Sims Walker – Jags Keep him sat, not doing so good.
WR – Reggie Wayne – Colts: Will play this Sunday. Start him.
WR – Malcom Floyd – Chargers: Is expected to play. Could be limited, though.
TE – Zach Miller – Raiders: Limited in practice, but will play. Not a good start.
WR – Mike Williams – Seahawks: Game time decision, not likely to play, though.
WR – Joshua Cribbs – Browns: Will be active on Sunday, but will be limited.
DB - Asante Samuel – Eagles: Not expected to play, Joselio Hanson will start.
WR – Santana Moss – Redskins: Game time decision reports the Washington Post.
DB – Husain Abdullah – Vikings: Is likely to play. Great start in IDP leagues!
RB – C.J.Spiller – Bills: Is likely to sit. Not a great option against Steelers.

For the official NFL list click here, but remember teams have until noon on Sunday to announce their final declarations.
