San Diego Chargers Biggest 2013 Team Need

February 3, 2013 by Kurt Turner

The San Diego Chargers are pretty easy to read. They need an offensive tackle; no two ways about it.

The Chargers struggled to protect Philip Rivers for the past two years, and I can only imagine what MORE Rivers would’ve done with solid protection.

Similar to the DE position, the 2013 NFL Draft has plenty of talent to choose from at tackle, and some of the best players in the draft period are tackles, so there will be a huge pressing need to draft one early before the rush.

Because of the way I think the draft will progress, I believe the San Diego Chargers get extremely lucky and find Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel still on the board.

Imagine that San Diego?

Now this is more of a possibility than fantasy, believe me.

I don’t know what I can say about Joeckel that many of you don’t already know. This guy is the best player in the draft; the best player at his position and the total complete package.

Many believe Joeckel is the most polished player coming out of the draft. He’s a certified brick wall who specializes as a blind-side blocker, and only got better each year he played.

Just ask Ryan Tannehill about Joeckel.

Many leading experts believe Joeckel is comparable to Cleveland’s Joe Thomas, and if that’s the case, the Chargers would end up with an immediate impact player with eventual All-Pro written all over him.

This concludes my coverage of each NFL team’s biggest need in 2013. From here on, coverage will slowly transition to the free agency market (scheduled for March) and of course, the 2013 NFL Draft.

We hope everyone continues down the road with us as our new NFL Coverage section continues to expand and grow.

Be sure to check out your favorite team below, and many thanks to those who followed me during this project!
