Week 13 Running Back Rankings, Austin Ekeler Musings

It's hard to trust these running backs outside of the top 20. Now when you take a peak and see Josh Adams ranked 21st you may pause, he got the lions share last week. But the fact remains Clement had a solid performance and this could easily turn into a hot hand RBBC. I'm not saying you don't start Josh as your RB2 but the risk is there outside of the top 20 in week 13.

Austin Ekler will probably get the start this week for an injured Melvin Gordon. This injury serves as a reminder to all of us that if you roster a top 5 running back you should have their backup. Running backs are ranked in the top five not only because they're great but also because they usually have a solid offensive line. So when someone says "I don't handcuff my RB's" I want you to remember this day. The day you wish you handcuffed Gordon with Ekeler. And Sunday when Ekeler drops 20 fantasy points on someone while Gordon nurses his MCL on the pine. Handcuff your top tier running backs, duh.

Upside Picks Outside The Top 20

1. Carlos Hyde - They could end up playing from behind here (ya think!?) so its a gamble. But still, the opportunity filling in for Fournette is real.
2. LeSean McCoy - The Bills defense is real, but if the offense doesn't show up then I'm not sure the defense will either. But look, if they show up to play then McCoy will shine.
3. Dion Lewis - he hasn't been performing well at all but gets a match-up against the Jets in week 13. The Jets have allowed the most "big plays" rushing this season so he'll have his chances for sure.
